| How can she help me? Your Doula will offer continuous assistance during your labor. She will aid you with an array of comfort techniques including, but not limited to: patterned breathing, position changes, hydrotherapy, guided imagery and massage. She will also explain what is happening as labor progresses. |
| Can my partner, mom or friend offer the same assistance? The presence of loved ones make an enormously positive impact on a woman's birth experience. The Doula can direct these willing but often unsure or nervous participants on how to best help you. She will not interfere with but rather enhance their support, making them feel more positive about their role. |
| How about my OB provider and Nurses? Lucina Doulas have the utmost respect for your medical providers. While OB's, Midwives, and Nurses provide expert medical care and support, they cannot spend uninterrupted time by your side. Your Doula stays with you continuously. Since she is not involved with medical responsibilities or decision making, she is able to focus on your emotional and physical needs. |
