Lucina Doulas was established in 2005 by Taryn Cornelius, RNC, LCCE, CD(DONA), Reiki Master, IBCLC Denise Smith, RN, LCCE, CD( DONA) If you have researched Doula care you will know that there is a great disparity in qualifications, experience, expertise and fees. WHY CHOOSE LUCINA? WHAT CAN LUCINA DOULAS OFFER YOU? Lucina Doulas has two experienced, NY State Board Certified RN's who are Lamaze International certified and DONA certified, as well as being certified in our specialities. Taryn has been a NICU (neonatal intensive care nurse) for 29 years and Lamaze Educator for 24 years. Denise has been an OB/GYN nurse for 16 years and Lamaze Educator for 10 years. Our credentials speak for themselves! When you contract with us you get unlimited access to Denise and Taryn to answer all your questions and give you support. We work on a rotating schedule so you may have one of us as your Doula or one of our carefully chosen Doulas. We have been extremely selective about our choice of Doulas. They have to meet our high standards and we update them monthly with "evidence based" research on childbirth practices. In the metro NY area private Doulas with lesser credentials command fees between $600-1600. Since Lucina Doulas work on a rotating basis you are getting the benefit of much lower fees. You may find a less expensive Doula; however, will she be able to give you what Lucina Doulas can? All Lucina Doulas are certified by DONA. ( Doulas of North America) or working towards certification. DONA sets the highest standards of practice for Doulas. We seek to provide you with the highest quality Doula care.
